Luther Smalls is a dynamic saxophonist, bassist, and bandleader known for his signature blend of jazz, soul, funk, and improvisation. With over two decades of performance and music education, Luther’s journey began in Charleston, SC, where his father—a saxophonist—first placed a horn in his hands. His professional career launched at 16 with the “Just Us Band” and was further refined through service in U.S. military bands, performing and teaching across the U.S. and Europe. Based in Columbus, GA, Luther now leads Luther Smalls & Friends, delivering high-energy shows across the Southeast. Through Luther Smalls Music LLC, he offers live performances, jazz clinics, and private instruction, dedicated to fostering musicianship and community through the arts.
